Rihanna and ASAP splurge: $21 million lavish penthouse in Century City

Since 2014, Rihanna has made The Century, one of Los Angeles’ most expensive and prestigious residential buildings, her main residence. However, she’s feeling somewhat cramped in her three-bedroom, 3,500 square foot home, especially with a new baby and a second child on the way, along with staff and her constant entourage.

To resolve this issue, the Barbadian superstar has spent $21 million on one of The Century’s largest residences, a penthouse occupying the entire 40th floor of the building. The expansive space is suitable for any A-lister, boasting over 9,000 square feet of living area, numerous custom features, and breathtaking views.

The apartment was previously owned by billionaire Nick Molnar, co-founder of the technology company Afterpay, who had initially listed it for 28million.However,Rihannasuccessfullynegotiatedasignificantdiscount,likelyleveragingL.A.’smansiontaxsincethepurchasewasfinalizedonMarch31,justonedaybeforethenewtaxtookeffect.Molnarwouldhaveincurredanadditional28 million. Upon entering the condo’s entrance gallery from the private elevator landing, visitors are greeted by a sweeping wall of floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, which offers stunning views of the city skyline. The dining area features dark brown hardwood floors that seamlessly transition into the all-white kitchen, complete with marble countertops, two islands, and high-end appliances.

The property also includes a soundproof movie theater furnished with velour couches, in addition to a master suite that features a curved bedroom, two custom closets, two bathrooms, and a separate lounge area. Among its standout characteristics are the condo’s four distinct outdoor terraces, facing north, south, east, and west, each providing sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, the towering Downtown Los Angeles skyline, the San Gabriel Mountains, and even snow-capped Mount Baldy.

Rihanna’s penthouse incurs a substantial monthly HOA fee of $8,814, but in return, she enjoys access to all the building’s premier amenities. These include four designated parking spaces in the garage, a 24-hour concierge, security services, outdoor pools and lush gardens, as well as on-site storage, a restaurant, conference rooms, and much more.
