Venus and Serena Williams find themselves in their newly adorned home office, connecting on Zoom during yet another leisurely Sunday afternoon spent under quarantine.
Having jointly owned a property in Palm Beach Gardens, the Grand Slam siblings have intermittently resided there since 1998. Serena, with secondary homes in both Bel-Air and Paris, made a recent acquisition of a sprawling waterfront estate with breathtaking vistas, nestled in a coveted enclave just north of Miami. This location conveniently places her minutes away from Venus and their parents. The transformation of this residence into an ideal haven for her family was facilitated by Venus’s esteemed design firm, V Starr.
Serena recounts that she was determined to make her first venture following Venus’s advice truly noteworthy. Their synergy as sisters and creative partners is straightforward: “Stay in your lane. Tennis is my domain, not interior design. However, I learned while observing Venus.”
Venus emphasizes her focus on bringing Serena’s evolving vision to life throughout the creative process. Serena’s purchase of a 14,500-square-foot Spanish Mediterranean-style home sparked a delightful contrast between her traditional inclinations and her fresh lifestyle.
After a comprehensive three-year refurbishment, Serena, along with her husband and toddler, took residence in the ultramodern intracoastal villa in July. The old adage holds true: “If you build it, they will come.” All parties concur that Serena’s creative prowess, guided by the expertise of V Starr, guided the design journey.
Supportive of Serena’s hands-on approach, Ohanian took charge of their three-year-old daughter’s bedroom. Both parents enthusiastically celebrate Olympia’s chamber, with its pink castle bed adorned with a slide and a unique chandelier designed by Josh Fradis—undoubtedly the pinnacle of their home, fit for a little princess.
Olympia’s room, while extravagant, reflects Serena’s commitment to an overall sense of moderation. The design successfully marries sleek, clean lines and luxurious elements with warm woods and relaxed accents, harmonizing with Serena’s laid-back disposition. This fusion paints a visual tale that encapsulates Serena’s newfound design aesthetic, aptly described by Haffey as “livable luxury.” Serena, a wellspring of inspiration, shared references from hotels across the globe that further enriched the design narrative.
