While attending nearby Ohio high schools in 2002, Savannah Brinson met LeBron James, a national phenomenon. His early expectations were high, but he exceeded them. Rather than an NBA elder statesman, he drives its business, politics, and presentation at 37. He also emphasizes family. Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri are his children from his 2013 marriage to Savannah.
As LeBron enters his 20th season as a standard-bearer for the NBA and its growing cultural footprint, his family has become increasingly prominent in the landscape he altered. V.F. joined them at their Los Angeles home for their first family photo shoot, including Savannah’s parents, Jennifer and JK, and LeBron’s mother, Gloria, to celebrate what Savannah called a transitional moment for her children.
Bronny, 18, a guard for Sierra Canyon’s high school basketball powerhouse, says it’s about “getting to a place to start to make decisions about his career and where he wants to go in his life.” Seven-year-old Zhuri has a successful YouTube lifestyle show, All Things Zhuri, with segments on baking, yoga, and painting. Bryce, 15, Savannah lovingly calls “the of the family,” as he could go any direction and is a highly touted basketball .
Savannah moved into her parents’ house after LeBron proposed to her on New Year’s Eve in his second season with the Miami Heat in 2011. Their 20-year relationship has been scrutinized, but at the bottom of their driveway, it looked natural. Savannah doubled over laughing when LeBron whispered into her ear while posing in front of a Porsche: “I cannot repeat that.”
